Red Bird
04:04
|
|
||
Red bird sitting in the evergreen tree
sitting in the coldest winter
I heard your song like you were singing it to me
I saw your scarlet in the snowy evergreen
No, dear, the darkness is just fleeting like today
but you don't see the way it's moving.
You can compare it to a high flying airplane
It's moving fast so wipe your tears away.
There was an Indian summer a couple weeks ago
and I could see the waters thawing
Sunshine, high 55 that melted all the snow,
a goose egg and a little glimpse of hope
A goose egg and a little glimpse of hope.
It's getting warmer now
blue skies are coming out
the sun will heat the ground,
so settle down.
And bundle up my friends
we can keep ourselves warm 'til the winter ends
Stay dry, and don't you fret
we have all seen worse days but not the better days ahead-
and the birds are coming back they're bringing songs and flowerbeds
The birds are coming back they're bringing songs and flowerbeds.

The Silence
05:14
|
|
||
Well I saw silence leaning up against the banister in the hall.
And he was cold, and dark as night as he stared up at the wall.
Won't share his thoughts, but I suppose they are thoughts of doubt and deep memories,
Won't share a word and neither will we
and we'll be silent until he leaves.
And we could all be fine
Come the morning time.
We can see daylight
and send the silence on his way...on his way.
We are like clouds, moving along
changing shapes as we roll through the sky.
You wear that face, hide what's beneath,
but you don't see what's under mine.
I want to know you, I want to talk,
I want to leave all this trouble behind,
I want to be honest, and I want to be kind.
And we could all be fine,
Come the morning time.
We can see daylight,
and send the silence on his way.
It was never meant to be
It was never meant to be
it was never meant to be so troublesome.

Lead My Soul To Light
04:25
|
|||
Lanterns bright, an open road.
In dark skies there is light
if you want to know.
A heart on fire will find the truth
the hand with right desire
will build its home on truth.
Oh my soul, in this plight
do not turn left or right.
Oh my Lord, my Love,
take my hand
and lead my way to the promised land.
There will be no shadow of a doubt;
step ahead breath and then breath out
and all our darkest nights will turn to day,
and we will find our way, we'll find our way.
and we will find our way, let's find our way
If you lead my soul to light
I will make it home again tonight.

Orange Trees
04:54
|
|
||
I could hide in my room for hours, never shower, stay under the covers
It's warm in there, I won't care what you have to say to me.
I am a tree, and my roots grow deep
this winter will not spare a storm.
I will grow, til I can't grow no more.
These days are better than most, I'll look up, look forward
remaining where I am, it's getting warmer, soon joy knocks again.
I am a tree, and my roots grow deep
this winter will not spare a storm,
I will grow, til i can't grow no more.
Buds turn to leaves like autumn turns to winter
orange trees exist when summer endures forever.
Death to me, and life in you
roots grow deep bearing fruit.

Glory To Glory
03:50
|
|
||
I've got a head full of pictures, a whole roll of film
these things that I can't forget.
And I'm putting behind me the person I've been
like when I put out my last cigarette.
When I was younger, not much younger than now
oh it feels like a life time ago-
well I'm looking at that person from where i now stand
and he looks like some one I don't know.
And yes I remember the words that You said
when I was just 17
and I knew that something was gonna have to change soon
but I didn't know what that would mean.
A few years ago I said I loved several ladies who i barely knew
Though I gave out my heart like an old pair of shoes,
this heart of mine is being renewed.
And yes I remember the words that You said
when I was just 17
and I knew that something was gonna have to change soon
but I didn't know what that would mean.
Oh I am moving from glory to glory,
from glory to glory I go.
And I'm running this race with endurance and strength
there's a prize at the end of the road.

Hell Or High Water
03:20
|
|
||
Sometimes I miss that feeling when we were first falling in love
like 2 years back from this october, oh heavens above has it really been that long?
I was just back from New York City I was only 19
I hid your cell phone in my pocket, you thought you lost it in the leaves
and I just laughed at you.
A couple days later I played you my songs and they never sounded quite as nice as when you sang along, such lovely harmonies.
Or in Josiah's car I held your hand for the first time
it was awkward, i was in the front seat and i reached behind
but I felt butterflies.
And now it's been 3 months since we took our vows
at the altar where the priest tied our hand together
said, "what God has brought together let no one put asunder."
And I made you that promise, and I intend to keep it.
That I'll keep loving you.
I'll just keep loving you.
Through hell or high water.
